Before any module is touched
  • Steady power. A stabilised power supply holds the voltage for the whole job, so an update can't fail halfway because the battery dipped.
  • Saved first. The module's configuration is backed up before anything changes.

What this isn't: remapping or tuning, DPF, EGR or AdBlue deletes, or mileage changes. Emissions deletes are illegal on UK roads and fail the MOT.

A code reader can tell you what's wrong. It can't set up a new module or load Ford's latest software. That needs FDRS and a Ford licence, which many independent garages don't have. Coverage depends on model and year, so send your reg first.

After a replacement

Module installation

  • New or used module setup, so a replacement part works with the rest of the car

  • Parameter resets and relearns after a repair
  • Configuration carried over from the old module where it can still be read

Yes. FDRS is Ford's own diagnosis and programming software, the one Ford dealers use, run on a licensed subscription. FORScan covers configuration and older models alongside it.
A stabilised power supply holds the car's voltage steady for the whole job, removing a common cause of failed updates, and the module's configuration is saved before anything is changed. If a module can't be programmed, you're told before any further work.
Often, yes. Most Ford modules need setting up to the car they're fitted to. Send your reg and which module it is; some parts, especially used ones, can't be reprogrammed, and you'll know that before a visit.
No. Removing emissions equipment is illegal on UK roads and fails the MOT. Performance remapping isn't offered either.
